Wisconsin Conventional Eligibility Criteria
Gas
- Continuous operation at least 16 hours per day, 7 days a week for freeways and expressways, and 12 hours per day, 7 days per week for other highways
- Vehicle services shall include fuel, oil, and water
- Restroom facilities
- Drinking water
- Public telephone
- Maximum distance of service: 3 miles. (If no business in the category of motorist service is available within the 3 mile limit, the limit may be extended in 3 mile increments to a maximum distance of 15 miles)
Food
- Regular operation at least 5 days per week, opening for service no later than 10 a.m. and remaining open until at least 7 p.m.
- Licensing or approval, where required
- Indoor seating for a minimum of 20 people
- 50% of the gross receipts are from meal, food, food product, and beverage sales
- Public telephone
- Maximum distance of service: 3 miles. (If no business in the category of motorist service is available within the 3 mile limit, the limit may be extended in 3 mile increments to a maximum distance of 15 miles)
Lodging

- Adequate sleeping accommodations

- A primary purpose of providing amusement, historical, cultural, or leisure activities to the public
- Regional significance
- Adequate parking accommodations
